We hear rookie DT Gerald McCoy was just beginning to meet the Buccaneers' expectations for him when he suffered a torn left biceps in Week 14. McCoy, the third overall pick in this year's draft, was placed on injured reserve Dec. 14, but we're told the team is not concerned that the injury will be more than a short-term obstacle for him. McCoy had been more productive of late — all three of his sacks came in Weeks 11 and 12 — and he seemed to be figuring out how to adjust to the tactics offensive linemen were using against him. One team observer said the Bucs should consider asking McCoy to focus on getting stronger in the offseason. Tampa Bay struggled to stop the run this season, and if McCoy returns with more power in 2011, the Bucs should be stouter up front. He started all 13 games before getting hurt, compiling 28 tackles, two forced fumbles and four passes defended.
