The Texans will sign former Patriots and Broncos DE Jarvis Green, PFW learned Wednesday.

Green, 31, was surprisingly released by Denver in September after signing a four-year contract with the Broncos in the offseason. The ninth-year pro from LSU has notched 252 tackles and 28 sacks.

The 6-foot-3, 285-pound Green started a career-high 12 games last season for New England. He recorded a career-best 7½ sacks in 2006.

The way we see it

Green will bolster the Texans' DE depth. Houston has just four ends on the roster, and Mario Williams has been bothered by a sports hernia and was limited in the loss to Baltimore on Monday night.
