Multiple media outlets reported early Wednesday afternoon that Packers head coach Mike McCarthy said a decision on QB Aaron Rodgers' status for Green Bay's game Sunday at New England will probably not be made until the day before the game. McCarthy also said it's very doubtful Rodgers will practice this week.

Backup QB Matt Flynn will reportedly get all of the practice reps in team drills this week so that he is fully prepared to play in case Rodgers is ruled out, which is looking more likely. Practice-squad QB Graham Harrell may be signed to the 53-man roster, but a decision would not be made until Saturday.

McCarthy told the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel that he had not talked to Rodgers on Wednesday, but had a lengthy talk with him earlier this week.

The way we see it

It would appear to be a real stretch to think Rodgers could start against New England without any practice time at all this week. It's looking like Flynn is going to get a major litmus test this Sunday evening.
