The Seahawks placed WR Deon Butler on injured reserve Tuesday and signed OG Paul Fanaika from the Browns' practice squad.

Butler underwent surgery to repair a broken bone in his right leg on Sunday. He suffered the injury in the fourth quarter of Sunday's loss to the 49ers. Butler was second on the team this season with 36 receptions.

The Seahawks expect WRs Mike Williams and Ben Obomanu to return this week after being inactive against the Niners.

Fanaika was a seventh-round draft choice by the Eagles out of Arizona State in 2009.

The way we see it

Luckily, the Seahawks should get Williams and Obomanu back, but they could have used Butler, who has been sure-handed for them this season and has four TDs. Fanaika brings some depth to an offensive line that has been banged up all year.

Fantasy spin

Without Butler, Williams' and Obomanu's fantasy values go up if you need a receiver in the fantasy playoffs, but it might be tough for the Seahawks this week against the Falcons.
