Panthers OLB Jason Williams has a torn ACL and will be placed on injured reserve, according to the Gaston (N.C.) Gazette.

Williams joins Thomas Davis, Jamar Williams and Dan Connor as Panthers linebackers to suffer season-ending injuries. Williams started in Weeks 12 and 13 before sustaining the injury in the Week 13 loss to the Seahawks. He continued to play in that game but was inactive in Week 14 when he was replaced by Jordan Senn in the starting lineup.

Williams is in his second season. He began 2010 with the Cowboys before joining the Panthers. He ha 16 tackles, two passes defensed and a forced fumble this season.

PFW correspondent Darin Gantt is reporting that Panthers DE Everette Brown needs season-ending wrist surgery. Brown played in all 13 games with two starts and recorded 1½ sacks in Sunday's loss, giving him 3½ sacks for the season.

The way we see it

Losing another linebacker adds to a forgettable season for the Panthers. Senn has played in 11 games this season with one start and will likely start for Williams the rest of the way.
