The quarterback controversy we saw with the Redskins in Week Eight could return on Sunday. Fox Sports' Jay Glazer is reporting that the Redskins are prepping backup QB Rex Grossman to play if starter Donovan McNabb struggles Sunday against the Buccaneers. Offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan informed his staff of the possibility.

In Week Eight, Grossman replaced McNabb for the team's two-minute drill. McNabb was rewarded a contract extension a couple weeks later.

McNabb has thrown 12 touchdowns and 15 interceptions this season for the 5-7 Redskins, completing just 57.9 percent of his passes. His 15 picks are already a career high.

The way we see it

If Grossman does replace McNabb on Sunday it would just add to the soap opera involving the Redskins' club under Mike Shanahan this season. Grossman, an eighth-year veteran, completed 4-of-7 passes when he replaced McNabb in his only game action this season.
