Packers-Lions prediction

Beware of the dreaded trap game. With the Patriots, Giants and Bears (oh my!) lurking in what looks like a very tough home stretch, it’s easy to see how the Packers could be duped into thinking Detroit will be an easy mark this Sunday, especially with Lions players dropping like flies this past week (DE Kyle Vanden Bosch, CB Alphonso Smith, OT Gosder Cherilus, etc.).

But I seriously believe that before the season ends, the feisty Lions are going to pull a huge upset, and after scaring the daylights out of the Bears last week, they are more than capable of giving the Packers a real run for their money at home this Sunday, despite all their injuries. The first Lions-Packers game in Week Four was a 28-26 squeaker won by the Pack. I see the Packers widening the margin a bit in this game but will not be stunned if the Lions deliver a haymaker to Green Bay’s playoff hopes. Look for a big game from the rejuvenated Donald Driver and continued strong running from rookie James Starks.

Prediction: Packers 30, Lions 24
