The Patriots signed DB Chevis Jackson on Friday. Jackson will likely take the roster spot of ILB Brandon Spikes, who was suspended for four games.
Jackson was the Falcons' third-round pick in 2008, and he played in 31 games in Atlanta with three starts. He recorded 51 tackles, one sack and one interception. He returned his first career pick 95 yards for a TD against the Patriots in 2008.
He played in two games for the Jaguars this season before being released on Nov. 17.
The way we see it
Jackson will battle with CB Darius Butler as the team's third cornerback with nickel corner Jonathan Wilhite battling a hip injury that has kept him out. Butler started Weeks One and Two before being benched but has played since Wilhite got hurt. Jackson provides some experience to the secondary and will likely help on special teams.
