The Lions lost another defensive starter for the season on Wednesday, placing DE Kyle Vanden Bosch on injured reserve.
The 10-year-veteran injured his neck in the Thanksgiving Day game against the Patriots and underwent surgery Wednesday on a bulging disk.
Detroit also placed CB Alphonso Smith (shoulder) on injured reserve Wednesday.
The way we see it
Turk McBride has played well as a replacement, but he lacks the skill and leadership that Vanden Bosch brings to the team. He was signed a four-year deal with the Lions this summer, so it will be interesting to see if health factors continue to be an issue.
