The Jets will cut recently re-signed WR Laveranues Coles to make roster room for help at safety.

Starting S Jim Leonhard is out for the season after breaking his right shin in last Friday's practice. S James Ihedigbo injured his right knee in Monday night's loss to the Patriots. Brodney Pool and Eric Smith are the only healthy safeties on the active roster.

Coles was inactive for the loss to the Patriots.

The way we see it

This is no surprise. The Jets don't need Coles at wide receiver and are desperate for a safety. The veteran Coles was signed as a motivation tactic, but it clearly didn't work Monday night. Expect the Jets to go to the waiver wire and try out some options at safety the rest of the way.
