The Vikings have signed RB Lorenzo Booker, who had been playing in the UFL for the Hartford Colonials.

Booker tried out for Minnesota in November but was not signed, as the team was hesitant about paying the UFL's $150,000 transfer fee. The running back protested, sitting out the Colonials' last game of the season. The league agreed to lower the fee and the Vikings will now pay just $25,000 to the league for Booker's services.

Booker, a Florida State product, played for the Dolphins and Eagles in 2007-08, playing in 17 games with two starts. He rushed 48 times for 178 yards and no touchdowns.

The way we see it

The Vikings have been looking to add depth at RB for a while, so the signing of Booker makes sense, especially with both Adrian Peterson and Percy Harvin banged up. Booker likely will see time on the team's return units, as the Vikes are in need of a kickoff returner.
