The Cowboys don't often call Tashard Choice's number in their crowded backfield, but when they do, it's almost always a success.
Such was the case Sunday at Indianapolis, when the third-year back saw extended time with Marion Barber (calf) sidelined. He delivered by running for 100 yards and a TD on 19 carries, helping Dallas upend the Colts. He also looked far better than Barber has this season, making you wonder why it has taken this long for Choice to get involved.
Just about every time Choice has received 15-plus carries in his career, he has cashed in with a productive outing, and it's very possible that he could continue to see that big of a workload down the stretch. Not only is Barber expected to miss at least one more game, but owner Jerry Jones said after Sunday's game that Choice has earned a larger role moving forward. Knowing that, fantasy owners would be wise to scoop him up.
Even while splitting carries with Felix Jones, Choice should see enough action to continue being a fantasy force as long as the Cowboys are committed to him. At this point, they have no reason not to be, as he could be their future lead dog.
