Here's a look at a key matchup heading into Sunday's Week 13 battle between the Bears and Lions.

RB Matt Forté vs. Lions' run defense

One week after he averaged a season-high 8.4 yards per carry, feeding Forté a steady diet of carries should be part of Mike Martz's game plan Sunday.

The Lions have a stout defensive line, although it might be without high-motor starting DE Kyle Vanden Bosch, who is listed as doubtful with a neck injury. Their linebacking corps, however, is not a group that has stuffed the run well. Detroit is ranked 24th in run "D," it's allowing 4.6 yards per carry and has given up 13 rushing touchdowns — only two teams have allowed more TDs on the ground.

MLB DeAndre Levy is a promising second-year player who has a nose for the ball, but Martz will likely focus on calling running plays that will send Forté to the edges, where the Lions are more vulnerable.

If Forté has success wearing down Detroit's front seven and linebackers begin to overpursue, that should open things up for Jay Cutler and the passing game.
