Here's a look at a key matchup heading into Sunday's NFC North battle between the Bears and Lions.
TE Greg Olsen vs. Lions' pass defense
Offensive coordinator Mike Martz has utilized Greg Olsen more often in the past four games, and the tight end has three touchdown catches in that span, but the Lions have done a decent job against tight ends this season. A tight end hasn't scored a TD against Detroit since Week Six, when the Giants' Travis Beckum had a one-yard grab.
Olsen's combination of size and speed is rare, though, and Martz will try to design plays to put him in a favorable matchup. He has the height to create mismatches in the red zone on jump balls.
The Lions will try to stay out of situations where a linebacker has to keep up with Olsen, but if SLB Julian Peterson gets caught defending Olsen, QB Jay Cutler has to recognize it. Olsen has the quickness to beat Peterson, who appeared to make a mistake in coverage against the Patriots in Week 12, setting up a 27-yard gain for TE Alge Crumpler on New England's first offensive play of the game.
