The NFL fined Panthers S Sherrod Martin $40,000 for a helmet-to-helmet hit on Browns TE Evan Moore in last Sunday's loss. Martin received such a large fine because he is a repeat offender.

Martin received a $5,000 fine in Week One for his hit on Giants TE Kevin Boss that gave Boss a concussion. In the video sent to teams by the league explaining the type of hits that will receive harsher penalties, Martin's hit on Boss is the first example.

Martin's base salary is $395,000. The fine will cost him nearly two game checks.
