Here’s a look at a key matchup heading into the Week 13 game between the Packers and Niners at Lambeau Field.
Niners WRs Michael Crabtree and Josh Morgan vs. Packers CBs Charles Woodson and Tramon Williams
If they put their minds to it, which it sometimes appears they don’t always do, Crabtree and Morgan could cause some problems for the Woodson-Williams duo that, based on the stat sheet, did a pretty decent job last Sunday on Falcons WRs Roddy White (five catches for 49 yards) and Michael Jenkins (3-24).
Crabtree, a high-profile first-round draft pick last year who did not become a factor until Week Seven because of a contract holdout, is capable of making some really sweet-looking grabs, like his fully extended 38-yard TD catch for the first score in the Niners’ 27-6 rout of the Cardinals last Monday night. It’s a given that Woodson and Williams have watched lots of film of that catch, as well as Crabtree’s TD grab against the Packers last year in San Francisco's Week 11 30-24 loss (Crabtree was 4-77-1 in that game).
Morgan is a solid complement to Crabtree who blocks well and is capable of making a big play every now and then. He had one catch for five yards against the Packers last year and 3-28 against the Cardinals a few nights ago.
Look for Williams to try to prove himself worthy of the well-deserved new four-year $33 million he just received from the Packers the other day.
