The University of Colorado has offered its head-coaching job to Redskins TE coach Jon Embree, according to The Denver Post. Vikings RB coach Eric Bieniemy is a likely candidate to be the team's offensive coordinator, the newspaper reported as well.

Both Embree and Bieniemy played for the Buffaloes before moving on to their professional playing and coaching careers. Former Colorado head coach Bill McCartney, who was a candidate to return to the position, said if he had been given the job, he would have hired either Embree or Bieniemy as an assistant and head-coach-in-waiting.

"It was never about me doing it again," McCartney said to the newspaper. "It was about setting the table for a black man to come in (as head coach). And he (athletic director Mike Bohn) hired one. Now, give him a chance."

Neither Embree, Bieniemy, the university or either of the NFL teams has released an official statement on the coaching move.
