The NFL announced Thursday that Browns CB Joe Haden has been named Defensive Rookie of the Month for November.
Haden, who was selected seventh overall in the 2010 draft, totaled 15 tackles, seven passes defensed, three interceptions and one special-teams tackle in four games in November, helping the Browns to a 2-2 record for the month.
His three interceptions led all rookies over that span, and he became the first Brown to notch an interception in three consecutive games in his first NFL season since Bernie Parrish in 1959. He is also the first Brown to record interceptions in three consecutive contests since Eric Turner in 1994.
Haden, a 5-11, 193-pound Florida product, is third among all NFL rookies and tied for seventh in the league in interceptions.
He is the first Brown to be selected as NFL Defensive Rookie of the Month since the award was established in 1996 and third to win an NFL Rookie of the Month award since ’99. Joe Thomas was the last player selected when he was named Offensive Rookie of the Month in November, 2007.
