The 49ers have signed veteran PK Jeff Reed, and he will handle the placekicking Sunday at Green Bay, according to NFL Network.

Reed kicked for the Steelers from 2002 through the middle of the 2010 season but was cut following a Week 10 loss to the Patriots in which the kicker missed a 26-yard field goal, his seventh miss of the season.

San Francisco's normal placekicker, Joe Nedney, has missed the team's past two games due to a knee injury and he didn't participate in Wednesday's practice. Shane Andrus had replaced Nedney for two games, but he had not been very effective, converting only 2-of-4 field-goal attempts. He was waived Tuesday.
