Vikings OG Steve Hutchinson said he suffered a broken thumb in Sunday's win over the Redskins but that he expects to play Sunday against the Bills.

Hutchinson said he caught his thumb on a Redskins defender on a run play, which caused the injury. He didn't leave the game and played the second half with a splint. An MRI revealed the break.

On Sunday, Hutchinson thinks he can have it taped and padded properly to protect the broken area. Although has has had plenty of sprained fingers over the years, he said he never has played with a broken thumb before.

"He’s got to get out and see how he functions with the work that they’re going to do with his thumb," head coach Leslie Frazier said. "He’s obviously a vital part of our success on the offensive line, and he’s a tough guy. But we’ll see how he does over the course of the next few days."

If Hutchinson, who has started all 143 games in which he has played in his career, can't go, rookie Chris DeGeare would most likely replace him. It would be DeGeare's first start.
