The Chiefs announced Wednesday that they have signed CB Mike Richardson and released LB Justin Cole.
Richardson, 26, has played in 21 games over the past two seasons with New England and Kansas City. He saw action in 11 contests with the Chiefs (one start) in 2009 but was released after '10 training camp. He has 31 career tackles and one forced fumble.
Cole joined the Chiefs as a rookie free agent but was inactive in each of the team's 11 games.
The way we see it
With CB Brandon Flowers banged up, the Chiefs brought back Richardson as insurance in the secondary. He knows the system after spending training camp with the club and would be able to fill in in a pinch.
