Bears QB Jay Cutler has one fewer Eagles cornerback to worry about Sunday, and it's a significant one.
The Eagles have ruled CB Asante Samuel out with a sprained MCL, and he will not make the trip to Chicago. CB Joselio Hanson will start in Samuel's place.
Samuel leads the NFL with seven interceptions this season, including two in Week 11 and two in Week Nine. The Eagles lead the league with 19 interceptions while the Bears have thrown 15 interceptions, the fourth-most in the NFL. Hanson has three starts this season and has one interception.
The way we see it
Sunday's game pits two 7-3, first-place teams against one another in Soldier Field, and this is a huge blow for the Eagles. Granted, the Bears have one of the league's worst offenses, and the Eagles have to turn around and play the Texans' offense on Thursday — a game in which Samuel may be needed more, if he's able to suit up. Yet, going against the risky Cutler, Samuel would have had his chances at some picks.
