Check out this key matchup in Sunday's game between the Vikings and Redskins at FedEx Field in Week 12:
Vikings WR Sidney Rice vs. Redskins secondary
It sure sounds as if Rice (hip) will play Sunday.
"I think Sidney is going to be fine," head coach Leslie Frazier said. "He seemed like he did pretty good today, and we'll evaluate it again tomorrow and see how he feels when he wakes up."
Rice was forced into playing a lot more snaps last week than expected after Bernard Berrian couldn't stay on the field. And for the most part, Rice was impressive, catching three passes for 56 yards. He moved around well and changed direction without any visible difficulty, although he appeared to duck away from contact a few times. Rice's timing was off a bit, but a partial week's worth of practice should help him get on the same page with QB Brett Favre.
The Redskins could be without four regular defenders, including SS LaRon Landry (who has been ruled out) and CB Carlos Rogers, their best cover guy who is listed as questionable. Expect a lot of zone coverage, which has been the predominant scheme anyway. This gives the edge to Rice, who can work the edges and use his size to exploit the softened secondary.
If Favre can deliver accurate passes, Rice could have his breakout game of 2010.
