The Panthers will be thoroughly evaluating their roster when the time comes to plan for free agency and the draft, and there are holes to fill, but one of the spots that is not crying out for significant changes is safety. With FS Sherrod Martin and SS Charles Godfrey in place, safety stands out as a position where they have assembled young talent that is already playing well and still has room to develop. Godfrey leads the team with four interceptions and some evaluators say he has shown Pro Bowl potential for much of the season. Martin, who in his first full season as an every-week starter, hasn't made as many big plays as Godfrey, but one observer said he has been the more consistent stopper in run support. The Panthers could make changes to the personnel behind Godfrey and Martin on the depth chart, but they're comfortable knowing these two players will be entering their prime over the next few years.
