There was chatter and speculation, followed by an incorrect report around midseason, that defensive coordinator Sean McDermott was feeling the heat in his position and that the team could make a move to promote secondary coach Dick Jauron to run the defense. Weeks later, that talk is a thing of the past. McDermott's defense has made marked strides the past few games with a few key personnel moves and better consistency. Moise Fokou replaced Akeem Jordan at strong-side linebacker, Antonio Dixon replaced DT Brodrick Bunkley and Dimitri Patterson supplanted Ellis Hobbs at right corner. The Eagles have forced 20 turnovers the past six games and have clamped down against the run since those moves were made. In addition, McDermott has adjusted his schemes well based on the opponents and hasn't been as recklessly aggressive when blitzing hasn't been warranted. These adjustments have keyed the Eagles' defensive turnaround.
