Much has been said about the Patriots' stellar rookie tight ends, Rob Gronkowski and Aaron Hernandez. The athletic duo has combined for 772 receiving yards and nine touchdowns, but their veteran mentor sometimes gets lost in the shuffle. The duo has received some extra coaching from TE Alge Crumpler. The way we hear it, the 10th-year player leads the tight end meetings, which has been very important for the rookies. This being his first year in New England, Crumpler already has gotten respect from his teammates and coaches and was elected captain just three weeks into the season. The team's struggles against the Browns came with Crumpler off the field. A great run blocker, Crumpler has seen more snaps the past few weeks as the Pats' de facto fullback and the offense has improved. He has just three receptions this season and caught the Lions completely off-guard when he hauled in a 27-yard reception on the Pats' first offensive play in their Thanksgiving Day win.
