After setting a franchise record for futility by registering only 14 sacks as a team in 2009, the Jaguars have shown major growth in that area this season. DE Aaron Kampman (four sacks) played a large role in the improvement before going down with a season-ending knee injury in mid-November, but the defense put forth its best effort of the season without Kampman against the Browns in Week 11, registering a season-high six sacks, giving the club 20 sacks on the season. Kampman's replacement, DE Jeremy Mincey, who was called out along with rookie DE Austen Lane by head coach Jack Del Rio in the week leading up to the game, was given a game ball after sacking Browns rookie QB Colt McCoy twice despite playing with a broken bone in his right hand. He showed great burst off the edge, and the Jaguars will need continued production from Mincey if they hope to stay in the playoff hunt.
