The Lions released LB Caleb Campbell on Tuesday and signed OG Donald Thomas, two days before they host the Patriots on Thanksgiving Day.

Campbell will be re-signed to the practice squad Wednesday. He joined the active roster for Sunday's loss to the Cowboys in his first football since the 2007 Army-Navy game after two years of active duty with the Army.

The Dolphins cut Thomas in September. He started 12 games last season.
