The Giants have signed former Buccaneers WR Michael Clayton to fill a spot on a banged-up receiving corps.

New York has three receivers on I.R., and starters Steve Smith and Hakeem Nicks are both out for the next few weeks with injuries. The top two active WRs for Eli Manning are Mario Manningham and Derek Hagan.

Clayton played for Tampa Bay from 2004-09 but has not suited up this season after being released at the end of training camp. He has 221 career catches for 2,936 yards.

The way we see it

Expect to see Clayton in the lineup right away for the Giants, as they will use any healthy body they can find at WR until Smith and Nicks are healthy. Clayton has shown talent in the best, but it is very concerning that the only season he eclipsed 38 catches or 484 yards was his rookie season of 2004.

Fantasy Spin

Manningham and Hagan's fantasy value increases with Nicks and Smith out, and going against the Jaguars, they could be productive. Clayton is probably not worth a flyer unless you're desperate for a wideout. Hagan would be a better option.
