The Chargers officially activated WR Vincent Jackson on Tuesday and released PK Kris Brown.

Jackson was in a contract dispute, holding out for a long-term deal. He finally signed his tender and reported to the Chargers on Oct. 29. The Chargers were 2-5 when he signed; they are now 5-5 and one game back of the AFC West-leading Chiefs, having won three games in a row without him.

The Pro Bowler had 1,167 receiving yards and nine touchdowns in 2009. Chargers GM A.J. Smith placed Jackson on the roster-exempt list, meaning he had to miss three games after he reported to the team.

Brown kicked in Weeks Seven through Nine, converting four field goals out of five attempts while adding eight extra points. Starting PK Nate Kaeding returned Monday night and kicked five extra points. He also missed a field goal.

The way we see it

Jackson is coming back at the perfect time for the Chargers, who have won three games in a row, and QB Philip Rivers has been without top target TE Antonio Gates.

Fantasy spin

Owners who waited patiently can insert Jackson into their fantasy lineups and reap the benefits. Rivers has had an MVP-type season, and Jackson will immediately be his No. 1 receiver.
