The Bucs released DT Ryan Sims on Tuesday. Sims had been inactive the past three games because of a knee injury.

The ninth-year veteran recorded six tackles in six games and one start this season. A first-round pick in 2002 by the Chiefs, Sims started all 16 games in 2009, recording 33 tackles and one sack.

The way we see it

The future of the Bucs' interior on defense is their rookies. Gerald McCoy has come on strong of late, and recently signed Al Woods has also played well, leaving the injured Sims expendable.
