A day after placing two key defenders on injured reserve, the Bengals ended the season of a third when they placed DT Tank Johnson on I.R. Tuesday morning.
Johnson sprained his knee nearly a month ago and has missed the last three games as a result. He started the team's first seven games, recording 10 tackles.
CB Fred Bennett was signed to take Johnson's place on the Cincinnati roster. Bennett, a four-year vet, was with the Texans from 2007-09 and played for the Chargers in four games this season.
The way we see it
The Bengals' defense is banged up on all three levels, which will make it difficult for them to halt a seven-game losing streak. Bennett won't have much time to learn the team's playbook; they play on Thursday night vs. the Jets.
