Eagles CB Ellis Hobbs will miss the rest of the season after a scary neck injury suffered in Sunday night's win over the Giants.

CSNPhilly.com is reporting that Hobbs, who was involved in a helmet-to-helmet hit and left the field on a stretcher on Sunday night, will be placed on injured reserve.

Head coach Andy Reid told reporters Monday that Hobbs has a disc injury, a different disc than the one that ended his 2009 season.

Hobbs lay on the field for several minutes before leaving on a stretcher after colliding with Giants DE Dave Tollefson. He had full use of his extremities in the locker room.

The way we see it

Hobbs has a pick and four passes defensed in eight games this season, but he lost his starting job earlier this season to Dimitri Patterson, so it is not a huge loss to the defense. Hobbs was mostly contributing on special teams. Jeremy Maclin and Jorrick Calvin will be the primary kick returners.
