Head coach John Fox confirmed that rookie QB Jimmy Clausen will start when healthy.

Following Sunday's 37-13 loss to the Ravens, Fox was asked if Brian St. Pierre would start if Clausen was healthy. "Right now Jimmy, healthy, gives us the best opportunity," he said.

St. Pierre, who was signed last week, completed 13-of-28 passes for 173 yards with a TD and two INTs. Rookie QB Tony Pike was the backup.

Clausen sustained a concussion on the final play of the Panthers' Week 10 loss to the Buccaneers. He has not been cleared to play yet and is scheduled to meet with a doctor for more testing this week.

The way we see it

St. Pierre did toss an 88-yard touchdown pass, but the Panthers are better served with Clausen playing QB. They expect him to be the future of the franchise and need to get him more game experience. It is still surprising that Fox went to St. Pierre over another rookie, Pike, at this point in the season.
