If he doesn't play well in the Week 12 game against Oakland, Dolphins OLT Jake Long could be shut down for the remainder of the season due to a dislocated shoulder, according to PFW correspondent and Sun-Sentinel reporter Omar Kelly.

Long was not anywhere close to 100 percent in the team's loss to the Bears on Thursday night, allowing three sacks to Julius Peppers. The team would like to place the All-Pro tackle on injured reserve, but according to the Sun-Sentinel article, Long feels he can recover and return to playing at a high level. If he struggles again in the team's Week 12 game vs. the Raiders, the team would like him to undergo surgery on his labrum, which will keep him from practicing and lifting weights for at least four months.

Lydon Murtha is the team's backup left tackle.

The way we see it

As long as Tyler Thigpen is Miami's quarterback, the Dolphins are unlikely to win many games. If Long is out, that task will become even tougher for the Dolphins.
