The Giants have promoted TE Jake Ballard from their practice squad as insurance in case one of their top blockers can't play in Week 11 vs. the Eagles. DB D.J. Johnson was released.
Starting TE Kevin Boss and OLT Shawn Andrews are both banged up and may be limited in the big NFC East showdown. Ballard, an undrafted rookie from Ohio State, was released by the team following training camp but was signed to the practice squad immediately after.
Johnson played in seven games this season, finishing with four tackles.
The way we see it
Ballard may not even be active on Sunday night, but it is a safety precaution in case Boss is not able to play. The Giants could use a big win in Philadelphia tomorrow, and if Eli Manning can't be protected, the team has little chance of pulling one out.
