Vikings WR Sidney Rice told ESPN's Ed Werder that he will play in Sunday's game against the Packers.

Rice has yet to play this season after undergoing hip surgery in late August. He was activated off the team's physically-unable-to-perform list on Nov. 3 but did not play in last week's loss to the Bears.

Head coach Brad Childress said Friday that Rice's status will be determined after Saturday's practice and that Rice would be placed on injured reserve if he wasn't activated for Sunday.

"I'm going to play. I don't think I can go the whole game but I'm going to play as much as I can," Rice told Werder.

The way we see it

The Vikings are in desperation mode as they have fallen to 3-6 on the year and need a miracle to make the playoffs. QB Brett Favre could use another weapon on offense and Rice could open things up for Percy Harvin as well. Rice had 83-1,312-8 receiving in 2009.

Fantasy Spin

If you have Rice on your team, keep an eye out Saturday for an official word on his status, but don't consider him as a starting option this week if he's only going to play limited snaps. Once he's back to playing a full-time role, he could be worth starting considering his success last year with Favre.
