Little did the Rams know in September 2009 when they signed Danny Amendola off the Eagles’ practice squad just how big a part of the team’s offense the feisty little receiver would become. “If there’s a most improved player on the team, it’s got to be him,” one veteran team insider said of a player who earned the nickname “Wes Welker Jr.” at Texas Tech before entering the pro ranks. ”(Rookie QB Sam) Bradford looks for him all the time on third down, and lately teams have been on him like bees after honey, making him really have to fight for every single catch.” But since Mark Clayton suffered a season-ending knee injury in Week Five, Amendola has become the team’s most reliable receiving weapon by far. “Yeah, I think Danny’s a great player for us,” Bradford said. “He makes a lot of plays for us. He’s definitely somebody that I look to. I feel like we do have a great chemistry.”
