RBs Laurence Maroney and Correll Buckhalter are slowly being phased out of the Broncos' offense. We hear Denver's coaches like what they have seen from RB Lance Ball, who was recently promoted from the practice squad when the Colts were close to signing him away. Ball provides fresh legs to an offense that has struggled with the ground game and is a little bit quicker than Buckhalter, who seems to have lost some speed since last season, according to a daily team observer. Maroney and Buckhalter combined for 44-84-0 rushing (a paltry 1.9 yards per carry) in the three games that RB Knowshon Moreno missed with a hamstring injury, forcing Denver to make some changes. The Broncos have become more dynamic since then, using Ball and FB Spencer Larsen to spell Moreno, with rookie QB Tim Tebow also contributing in the running game. With Moreno finally healthy and young backs producing behind him, we hear Denver is finally starting to become more comfortable running the ball.
