The Bengals placed DE Jonathan Fanene on injured reserve and signed DE Victor Adeyanju.
Fanene suffered a hamstring injury on Oct. 24 against the Falcons and hasn't played since. He ended up seeing action in two games in 2010, recording four takcles. He played in every game with two starts in 2009.
Adeyanju is a fifth-year veteran from Indiana University who spent the past four seasons with the Rams. He played in 53 games with 26 starts, recording 117 career tackles and three sacks. The Rams selected him in the fourth round in the 2006 draft.
The way we see it
The Bengals have been hurt by the injury bug this season, recently putting CBs Adam Jones and Morgan Trent on I.R. Fanene had been able to play in only two games because of the lingering injury, so the team is used to playing without him, and Adeyanju has the experience to be a decent replacement.
