Here's a look at a key matchup heading into the Week 11 rematch between the Vikings and Packers at the Metrodome.
Vikings DRE Jared Allen vs. Packers OLT Chad Clifton
Clifton, who has been a pillar of strength for the Packers so far this season, did a real number on Allen in Green Bay's 28-24 prime-time victory over Minnesota in Week Seven, limiting Allen to zero sacks, one tackle and half a pressure. But Allen has come alive in his last two games, registering a combined 3½ sacks and eight QB hits vs. the Cardinals and Bears.
Last year in the Vikings' series sweep over the Packers, Allen was an unstoppable monster, collecting a combined 7½ sacks with Clifton out of the lineup in both games because of injuries. Despite having a down year by his Pro Bowl-caliber standards, Allen has a team-leading 5½ sacks and leads Vikings defensive linemen in tackles with 31. He has good speed, excellent moves and lots of power packed into his 6-6, 270-pound frame. After being embarrassed on a national stage by Clifton a month ago, look for Allen to go all out in front of the hometown fans this Sunday.
As for Clifton, with his practice time being pared down to preserve his tender knees, he has started every game this season and has played extremely well for the most part.
