Steelers WR Hines Ward is expected to play Sunday after passing a series of post-concussion tests, according to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.

Pittsburgh will continue to keep an eye on Ward throughout the week, and as long as no lingering effects appear, the veteran wideout will suit up against the Raiders.

Ward missed the majority of Steelers' 39-26 loss to the Patriots on Sunday night after a hard hit by New England S Patrick Chung late in the first quarter kept him sidelined for the remainder of the game.

The way we see it

Ward provides a trusted, reliable target for QB Ben Roethlisberger in the short passing game and is also an excellent run blocker.

While WR Emmanuel Sanders showed some potential last week in Ward's absence, it was clear the same chemistry does not exist with Roethlisberger. On a team that has already suffered more than its fair share on injuries, Ward's presence will be a big boost to the offense.

Fantasy spin

Ward's numbers haven't been off the charts, but the reliable receiver is worth a start in most leagues. Although he caught for 6-77-1 against the Raiders last season, he may face a tougher task against an Oakland secondary that ranks second in the league this year.
