With PK Joe Nedney out with a knee strain, the 49ers have signed Shane Andrus to a one-year contract.
Andrus was with San Francisco in 2009, and played in the 49ers' final game of the season. He completed all four point-after tries and did not attempt a field goal.
The team released WR Jason Hill, a former third-round pick, to clear roster space for Andrus.
The way we see it
Andrus is familiar with the team and is just a temporary replacement for Nedney, who is expected to return in a week or two.
