RB C.J. Spiller and LB Shawne Merriman will both be sidelined for the Bills' Week 11 game vs. the Bengals.
Spiller suffered a hamstring injury during a punt return in the team's Week 10 win over the Lions. CB Leodis McKelvin handled the punt-return duties once Spiller left the game, and Quinton Ganther stepped in as the team's backup running back.
Merriman has yet to debut in a Buffalo uniform after being signed on Nov. 3. He is still bothered by an Achilles injury. Head coach Chan Gailey said the linebacker should be ready for the Week 12 game against the Steelers.
"I probably don't think he'll get out there [to practice] this week, but I think there's a real good chance for next week," Gailey said of Merriman.
The way we see it
While it hurts not having two players who could potentially make an impact, this news doesn't really change much for the Bills, as neither has made much of a contribution this season. Spiller has disappointed in his role as the No. 2 running back, and Merriman has yet to play in a game with the Bills since coming over from the Chargers.
