Steelers WR Hines Ward saw his streak of 186 consecutive games with at least one reception end Sunday night after sustaining a concussion in the first quarter.

Ward suffered the concussion while being hit by Patriots safeties Patrick Chung and James Sanders. Sanders appeared to make helmet-to-helmet contact with Ward. Ward stumbled while being helped off the field.

The 13-year veteran said the Steelers' medical team kept him from returning to the field in the Steelers' 39-26 loss. Ward expects to be ready for Week 11.

His streak was the third-longest in NFL history.

The way we see it

Without Ward in the slot, QB Ben Roethlisberger seemed to struggle until late in the game. His receivers also dropped balls in critical situations that Ward likely would have caught. Sanders could be hearing from the league for the hit.
