An NFL arbitrator has denied former Raiders coach Lane Kiffin's claim that the team still owes him unpaid salary from his time in Oakland, according to an ESPN.com report.
The grievance, which was filed in 2008 through the NFL Coaches Association shortly after Kiffin was dismissed by owner Al Davis, sought $2.6 million in unpaid salary. That demand was reduced to $333,000 after Kiffin took the head-coaching job at the University of Tennessee in 2009, which offset part of the salary that would have been paid to him under his Raiders contract.
Davis fired Kiffin after a 1-3 start in '08 and 5-15 overall record in Oaklahd, claiming that Kiffin had made statements against the Raiders organization that were in violation of his contract and therefore a just cause for his termination.
Kiffin is currently the head coach at USC.
