Panthers rookie QB Jimmy Clausen has been diagnosed with a concussion, according to head coach John Fox. Clausen likely sustained the injury on the Panthers' final offensive play when he was stuffed at the goal line.

The Panthers believe Buccaneers CB Aqib Talib recklessly dove headfirst into the pile. Panthers WR Steve Smith shoved Talib and was handed a 15-yard penalty. Fox said the tape of that play will be sent to the NFL for review this week.

The Panthers lost to the Bucs, 31-16, and Clausen was 16-of-29 passing for 191 yards and no interceptions.

The way we see it

With opening-day starter Matt Moore done for the season with a torn labrum, rookie QB Tony Pike would start if Clausen can't go against the Ravens on Sunday. The only other player on the roster with QB experience is rookie Armanti Edwards, who has been a wide receiver in the NFL after playing quarterback in college. Whoever is at the helm will have a tough task on Sunday against the Ravens' "D."
