49ers starting OLT Joe Staley broke his left fibula in Sunday's win over the Rams and is expected to miss 4-6 weeks.

Staley left the game and X-rays were negative, so he returned to the field. "The X-rays were negative, so I went back out there. Then I got kicked again, and I knew it was broken, but I stayed in for a couple plays," Staley told reporters after the game.

Comcast SportsNet's Matt Maiocco reported that Staley will miss 4-6 weeks. The fourth-year veteran started all 16 games in 2007 and '08 and started just nine in '09. He has started every game this season.

The way we see it

OL Tony Wragge replaced Staley in overtime, his first time playing left tackle in a game. Veteran Barry Sims started when Staley got hurt last season, but has been inactive since Week Two.
