Sidney Rice will not be active for the Vikings' Week 10 game vs. the Bears, as the wide receiver has opted to sit out another game to allow his hip more time to heal. The news was first reported by PFW's Vikings correspondent and Minneapolis Star-Tribune reporter Judd Zulgad.

Rice hurt his hip in the NFC championship game last January and underwent surgery in August, as the team placed him on the PUP list. The receiver said he was a little sore after Friday's practice and opted not to risk further injury.

The way we see it

Rice is looking for a long-term contract following this season and he clearly doesn't want to risk being injured entering an important offseason. Though QB Brett Favre would love to see his favorite target return, playing with a sore hip against a physical Chicago defense on a wet Soldier Field turf is not a good idea.

Fantasy Spin

With Rice out and fellow WRs Percy Harvin and Bernard Berrian also listed as questionable for the big NFC North showdown, the burden rests on RB Adrian Peterson to carry the load for the Vikings' offense.
