With OLT Max Starks out for the season with a herniated disc in his neck, the Steelers will turn to Jonathan Scott to replace him. "This is a guy that's earned this opportunity, and I'm looking forward to him taking advantage of it," Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin said of Scott, who started eight games at left tackle for Buffalo a season ago and started for the injured Starks earlier this season at Tennessee. Flozell Adams, the Cowboys' longtime left tackle, will stay at right tackle, where he has played all season. The sense in Pittsburgh is that Tomlin did not want to potentially destabilize two positions by moving Adams. The 6-foot-8, 345-pound Starks had been the Steelers' primary starter at left tackle for the last three seasons, and replacing him could prove difficult, we're told, for he's proven to be an effective performer and key part of the line. Though lacking foot speed, Starks has the size and length that made him a tough matchup.
